Michael Knapp, Ph.D. founded GreenRiver.org, and is a co-owner and the Managing Director. He is a database designer and analyst, specializing in web-based application development. Michael was trained as an applied biostatistician, conducting statistical analyses with SAS software and working with spatial data using ArcInfo and ArcView. His experience with relational database management systems led him to design and build databases using Oracle, Access, FoxPro, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL.

Michael has worked with a variety of Internet map servers for distributed (web-based) geographic information and has developed numerous web-based applications during the past several years. His interest in web-based application development arose from the graduate level courses he taught in Internet research, web application development, and intranets.

Prior to founding Green River, Michael was Director of Product Development at EdsUp, a web application development and consulting company specializing in the development of online educational environments. In 1998 Michael received his Ph.D. in Public Health from Yale University. His dissertation involved the integration, management, and analysis of spatial and relational data.
